West Side Rooters' Club Ball

The Chicago Cubs West Side Rooters Club had their second annual Rooters Ball last night. They raised over $4o,000 for JDRF and the MLB Dominican Development Alliance. The event was held at Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse. Geovany Soto hosted the event that was a huge success. Other current Cubs players that were there include Alfonso Soriano, Aramis Ramirez, Derrek Lee, and Randy Wells. The West Side Rooterers' Chairman Ernie Banks also attended the event. Click here to check out the picture from the ball!

The Cubs lots again today thanks to some lousy defense by the Cubs.
Other Cubs Notes:
  • Reed Johnson is tired of being sidelined. Check out his latest blog post.
  • Jake Peavy talked to Scott Merkin of MLB.com about being almost traded to the Cubs, then the Sox, then finally traded to Chicago for real. He's happy to have ended up on the South Side.
  • John Grabow, who pitched very well as a Cub, becomes a free agent at the end of the season. He has hinted that he'd like to re-sign with the Cubs saying that he enjoys pitching in Chicago.

That's it for now, I'll keep you posted.

  1. You know what made me SUPER mad during todays game is Soriano not hitting behind the runner on 2nd base. He struck out with a man on 2nd, then Baker got a single but Fox got thrown out at home. IF Soriano moved Fox to 2nd, Fox would score EASY with that single. HORRIBLE play by Soriano. And then Soriano wasn't done!! Then he fell down on a can-of-corn! He needs to be traded this offseason. I would rather keep Bradley and let Soriano go. I think the Cubs will sing a big player, his name will be Adam Dunn!
