Cubs losing out on player, links, rumors

The Cubs have lost out on a few more guys that they were interested in it appears...
  • The Giants have signed Rich Aurilia to a one year deal with a invite to Spring Training.
  • The Cubs and Phillies also offered Aurillia a minor league deal.
  • Braden Looper has agreed to a one year deal with the rival Brewers.
  • The Rays picked up another guy who I think would have makes sense for the Cubs, Morgan Ensburg.
  • The Cardinals have released Adam Kennedy, could the Cubs consider signing him?

Quote from Mark Prior, "If Kurt Warner can disappear for five years, I can disappear for three."

Some Cubs Rumors...

  • Orlando Hudson said he's talked to the Nationals, Dodgers, Mets, and Yankees last week on Hot Stove, but did no mention the Cubs.
  • Godon Wittenmyer reports that the Cubs could add Jake Peavy or another veteran pitcher this Spring.
  • The Cubs could also be looking to add a lead off man like Roberts or Figgins.
  • The sale of the Cubs is nearly complete according to Wittenmyer.

Cubs Monday Links...

  1. Mark Prior only gone for three years? Come on man, please! He had a great talent when he came up, but injuries have killed him. He will never be top pitcher again. A #4, a #3 AT BEST, is when he will be. Maybe a bullpen pitcher?

  2. I agree. I would like to see him bounce though, he was one of my favorite guys in 2003. I really don't think Prior could even be a #3 guy, there's just very little chance that he'll stay healthy.
