15 Days Until Opening Day

Spring Training is super long this year! Are you tired of it yet? We the good news is that Opening Day is 2 weeks from tomorrow! In just 2 weeks time, the games will start counting for real and we won't see guys most of you have never heard of playing in the 9th inning of a close game. Here is the starting lineup for today's game VS Seattle:
1. Soriano- LF
2. Miles- 2B
3. Lee- 1B
4. Bradley- RF
5. Ramirez- 3B
6. Soto- C
7. Blanco- SS
8. Gathright- CF
9. Zambrano- P

  • Game is on CSN today, after the game flip it over to ESPN to watch USA VS Japan in the WBC semi-finals on ESPN. The winner of the USA/Japan game will take on Korea in the finals.
  • Lou Pinilla seems upset about the World Baseball Classic. He has made comments about Lilly and Soto not getting their work in in the WBC.
  • Rich Harden will pitch in minor league camp on Wednesday. If his is not ready for the regular season, Lou will pitch Sean Marshall as the 4th starter, and slide Harden into the 5th spot to give him more time. The Cubs won't need the 5th starter the first few times around the rotation because of off days.
  • Ronny Cedeno will lead off for the M's today.

Fergie Jenkins on Mully and Hanley:

  • Jenkins is not bothered by the fact that he is sharing the honor with Greg Maddux. He says Greg is outstanding and he is not bothered.
  • Hanley thinks it is a slap in the face to Fergie that he has to share this honor with Greg. Jenkins is just happy to join a lot of his former teammates up there on the flag poll.
  • Fergie called the 2009 team "a new ball club". Fergie doesn't think the team can win 97 games again.
  • He didn't sound too sure that the Cubs have improved this off season.
  • Harden is the type of guy who needs lots of rest. The Cubs have lots of depth in their rotation so they can give him that rest.
  • Jenkins is following the NCAA tournament.

I'll have some more radio recaps later.

Enjoy today's game, and...

"I don't care who wins as long as it's the Cubs."
