September Call Ups

Harden Stays a Cub
Yesterday Jim Hendry ended up revoking the waiver on Aaron Heilman, Rich Harden, and all of the other Cubs that were on waivers. Sources say as many at 12 Cubs were claimed off of waivers. The Cubs GM was not too pleased that Harden and Heilman's names were leaked to the media and he does not know how that happened.

Lilly Wins Award
Ted Lilly was named the winner of the Chicago Cubs 2009 Roberto Clemente Award today. He is one of the 30 Major League nominees for the national 2009 Robert Clemente Award, which is given each year to the player who combines outstanding skills on the baseball field and devoted work in the community. Tomorrow is Roberto Clemente Day.

September Call-ups
The Cubs today activated Andres Blanco from the 15-day DL. They also called up pitched Justin Berg and infielder Micah Hoffapuir from AAA Iowa. All 3 players will be in uniform tonight. The Iowa Cubs are still in the playoff hunt, so the Cubs could wait to make more call ups until after the I-Cubs season ends.

Soto's Struggles
Cubs catcher Geovany Soto has not hit well all season long. Expect to see some more of Koyie Hill behind the plate the rest of the way. Geo's down year is a mystery for all involved.

I'll keep you posted.
