The Cubs hitting coach, Gerald Perry, has been relieved of his duties today. Someone had to take the blame for the Cubs recent struggles at the plate, so Jim Hendry decided to make a coaching change even though it is not Perry's fault. That's the way the game works, and some change had to be made to get this team going. Von Joshua, who was the hitting coach for the Iowa Cubs, has been promoted to the Cubs hitting coach and will join the team on Tuesday. Hopefully a familiar face will help guys like Soto, Theriot, Fontenot, Fox, Hill, and Hoffpauir who have worked with Von in the past.
I would like to personally wish the best of luck to Gerald, who is a great guy and a great coach, with his coaching career in the future, I'm sure he will find another job as a hitting coach.
Let's hope the Cubs get those bats going!
Also, by the way, in the College World Series Cubs draft pick David LeMahieu went 3-5 with 2 runs scored and an RBI in a win for LSU last night. The Cubs drafted LeMahieu in the second round. I'll keep you posted on all the Cubs draft picks playing in the CWS.

I don't think Perry can be faulted for the Cubs lack of productin this year. Almost every started has spent a stint on the DL this year so far. I think in the second half when Ramirez returns and Lee & Soto have returned to form from their injuries they'll be fine. They are in the thick of things even without the offense. Let's hope the starting pitching holds up!

Yeah, my worry is that the Cubs will not continue to get the great pitching that they have been getting once the bats return. I agree that it was not Perry's fault that the Cubs haven't hit, but Hendry has to try to do something, and maybe bringing in a guy that lots of Cubs have worked with in the system will help.
