Now it's time to take a look at the Class A teams, starting with the High A Daytona Cubs.

The Chiefs July schedule.

I'll finish the Down on the Farm Report with an update from Boise and Mesa, and a Minor League All Star Preview.

Stevens called up

Pitcher Jeff Stevens has been called up to the Cubs from AAA to help the bullpen for the 4 games in 3 days against the Cardinals. Kevin Hart, who started yesterday, has been sent the other way. We'll see Hart back soon. Stevens, who has yet to make his big league debut, had a 2.18 ERA in 30 games in the Iowa bullpen this season. He came to the Cubs in the trade that sent Mark DeRosa to the Indians last December.

The Inbox

On off days, Carrie Muskat from Cubs.com has the Inbox. Here it is.

Soto

Geovany Soto will not be placed on the DL, but he might be out until the All Star break. The MRI revealed that nothing worse than the strain originally diagnosed is wrong. Geo will be re-evaluated tomorrow. Jake Fox will be Koyie Hill's backup in this series against STL and if Soto cannot catch on Sunday, Fox might get a start behind the plate in one of the doubleheader games.

Remember, you can email me at cubsblogmailbag@aol.com.

That's it for this off day, we're back in action tomorrow against the Cards! Big series coming up, Harden VS Carpenter in game 1!
