Another Dramatic Win (Updated with more notes)

Another great win for the Chicago Cubs yesterday, you can make it 3 dramatic wins in a row! The Cubbies have been looking very good and will go for the sweep against the Indians today at 1:20 CT. The Cubs won it yesterday by scoring 2 runs in the 13th against Kerry Wood. Today's starting pitcher is Randy Wells, let's get him his first big league win!

Some other Cubs notes:

  • The Cubs have made a roster move, placing Angel Guzman on the 15-day DL and recalling Kevin Hart from Iowa.
  • Reed Johnson is not available, he may be sidelined a few days with a stiff back.
  • Cubs draft pick DJ LeMahieu went 1-5 with a walk and 2 runs scored in a 14-5 LSU win on Friday. LSU is in the CWS championship and will play Mon., Tues., and Wed. this week against Texas in a best of 3 series. I'll keep you posted on LeMahieu.
  • The National Baseball Hall of Fame has their Baseball Hall of Fame Classic this afternoon. The new annual event replaces the MLB exhibition game that ended last year with a rain out between the Cubs and Padres. This event features MLB legends. Former Cub Lee Smith is playing center field. Fergie Jenkins will pitch in the game.
  • Kevin Hart was 3-3 with a 3.10 ERA as a starter at AAA before being called up to the Cubs bullpen today.
  • Ryan Freel is hitting .400 with 4 RBIs in his 6 games on the AAA rehab assignment so far.

I'll keep you posted.
