Numbers Breakdown: Soto 2008 VS Soto 2009, Sweet Lou Book, and More

Numbers Breakdown coming up, but first a few notes:
  • Cubs documentary "We Believe" should be in Chicago theaters by the end of the summer according to Carrie Muskat. A DVD, that will include 106 minutes of bonus features, is expected to be available in September.
  • Aramis Ramirez is expected to go on minor league rehab by the end of the week! Great news!
  • Cubs top prospect Josh Vitters has been moved up to Class A Daytona. He was hitting .316 with 15 home runs and 46 RBIs with Peoria. Vitters will join the D-Cubs tomorrow.
  • Don't forget, you can get full Cubs minor league updates on my Twitter, Cubs Farm Updates.

Now for Tonight's Numbers Breakdown:

Soto's Averages at the end of June-

2008: .286

2009: .224

HR at the end of June-

2008: 13

2009: 8

RBIs at the end of June-

2008: 57

2009: 24

Geo is obviously not hitting near as well as he was a year ago at this point. So far all 3 Cubs that I've taken a look at were hitting better at this time in 2008. We will continue until we have done every Cubs starting position player. Up next, Milton Bradley.

Remember, the numbers don't lie!

Shifting gears, I just finished reading a great Cubs book called "Sweet Lou and the Cubs". George Castle did a great job of describing every angle of Lou's first 2 years in charge of the ballclub. George also wrote chapters about some of the players like Alfonso Soriano, Ryan Theriot, Derrek Lee, Carlos Zambrano, Rich Harden, Ryan Dempster, Reed Johnson, and Kerry Wood. It's a great book that I would recommend to those of your who enjoy reading and the Cubs.

Cubs won tonight, great pitching by Rich Harden! Let's do it again tomorrow!
