Cubs Notes: Bradley, Lou, and More

  • Milton Bradley says that there is really not one guy who he feels he can sit down and talk to. "I've been on teams where I have guys I know, or somebody I can just vent to," he said.
  • When Derrek Lee was mentioned Milton said that D-Lee is cool, but "We just don't have that bond."
  • Bradley went on to say that the 2 guys he felt like he could talk to on the Cubs were Gerald Perry and Joey Gathright, both of whom are now gone.
  • The Cubs are a good group of guys according to Milton, but he just hasn't formed any real relationships yet.
  • Lou shouted at Bradley yesterday, "Your not a player, your a piece of (bleep)."
  • Piniella apologized to Milton today, but Lou says he's done looking the other way when players have outbursts in the dugout.
  • Aramis Ramirez took batting practice on the field Friday, and appeared to fare well. After a few more days of BP, he might head out for a minor league rehab assignment for about a week before his possible return to the lineup.
  • Angel Guzman played catch Friday for the first time since going on the DL and said he felt fine. He should be at full strength when he's eligible to return July 6.
  • Reed Johnson said on his blog that he will come back on the first day he's eligible to return.
  • According to the Sun-Times, sources confirmed Friday that the team has had conversations with the Cleveland Indians about Mark DeRosa earlier this month.
  • With Johnson and Ramirez set to come off the DL soon, I have to wonder what the Cubs will do about the roster. I would think when Johnson is activated then Ryan Freel will head back to AAA. Hopefully they keep Fox with the team, but that would mean Andres Blanco would also have to go back down. I guess we'll see!

I'll keep you posted!
