Von Joshua Bio, Ron Santo Golf, Minor League All Stars and more Cubs Notes

Here are the latest Cubs Notes:
  • The Cubs won in dramatic fashion today on a 9th inning walk off single by Ryan Theriot. Derrek Lee played a great game on the base paths and at the plate. Lee had a 13-game hitting streak going. Soto doubled twice and Lilly pitched a great game in the win.
  • Pitcher Jay Jackson has been taken off the DL for the Tennessee Smokies. Outfielder Doug Deeds has been promoted to AA. Brandon Guyer and Todd Blackford have been sent back to High Class A Daytona.
  • The Daytona Cubs will send 3 players to the FSL all star game: SS Starlin Castro, C Robinson Chirinos, and SP Ryan Searle.
  • The Daytona Cubs coaching staff from 2008 will coach the all star game, including manager Jody Davis.
  • The FSL all-star game is next Saturday, June 20. I'll let you know how the Cubs guys do.
  • The MWL allstars have also been announced, and 6 Peoria Chiefs have made the team. they are: 3B Josh Vitters, OF Kyler Burke, DH Josh Harrison, INF Rebel Ridling, P Chris Carpenter, and P Ryan Butcher. The game is Tuesday June 23, so again I'll let you know how the Cubs farm hands do.
  • I'll have a full minor league report included with tomorrow's off day notes.
  • Ron Santo's golf tournament is on the Cubs off day tomorrow to raise money for JDRF. Ronnny does lots of hard work for his great cause.
  • Cubs documentary "We Believe" will be shown on June 28, more info on Muskat's Blog.
  • Ryan Freel will rehab tomorrow with Iowa, I'll let you know how that goes as well.
  • The Cubs new hitting coach is Von Joshua as I mentioned earlier, here is his bio from the Iowa Cubs website. (you have to scroll down under Pat Listach.)

Cubs off day tomorrow, so I'll have an update on the former Cubs and our minor league teams.
