Other Cubs Notes:

  • Derrek Lee has a career high 7 RBIs including a Grand Slam and a 3-run bomb, and the game is not over yet!

  • Jeff Baker was stuck in traffic getting to Wrigley today.

  • Aramis Ramirez and Reed Johnson are headed to join the Peoria Chiefs tomorrow. They will play with Peoria this weekend before joining the Cubs on Monday!

  • Angel Guzman will be rehabbing for AAA Iowa on Friday.

  • Alfonso Soriano will be back in the lineup tomorrow. He's been working with Von Joshua.

  • Neal Cotts had Tommy John surgery today. He's on the Iowa Cubs DL right now.

  • The West Side Rooters Social Club is hosting a great event which includes a Q&A with Lou Piniella. It will be next Wednesday at 6:30. Ernie Banks will also be there. Click here for more info.

  • According to Hot Stove Cubbies, the Cubs are looking to bolster the bullpen. Some guys that they might consider include Matt Capps and Clay Meredith.

  • The Cubs may have signed Venezuelan catcher Wilson Contreras.

  • Former Cub Randall Simon, who is playing for the FM Redhawks of the Northern League, has been voted into their All Star Game. Today I saw Simon play in a game in Gary. He batted twice as the DH, and hit 2 ground balls, he did not hustle on either one and on the first one, which was back to the pitcher, he did not leave the box. He was pitch hit for in his 3rd AB. He's hitting over .300.

That's it for now, I'll keep you posted on Ramirez and the others rehabs all weekend long.
