The Boise Hawks have started their season 6-14, in last place in the NOR East, 7.5 GB of first place Tri-City. The Hawks are the Class A Short Season affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.

Mesa Cubs
The Mesa Cubs, of the Arizona Rookie League, are 8-8 to start their season, in 2nd in the AZL East, 3.5 GB of first place AZL Angels.

Now let's move on to a Cubs Farm All Star Preview.
Futures Game
On Sunday, it's the 2009 MLB Futures Game, hosted at Busch Stadium part of the MLB All Star Break. Their are 2 guys from the Cubs system on the rosters, Josh Vitters will start at third base for USA, and Starlin Castro will start at SS for the World Team. The game will start at 1:00 CT and can be seen around the country on ESPN2 and MLB.com. We'll get a chance to watch Vitters play for the first time!
Southern League All Star Game
The Tennessee Smokies, the Cubs AA affiliate, will be well represented at the 2009 Southern League All Star Game in Birmingham on Monday. The following Smokies have been named to the team:
- Blake Lalli, 1B
- James Adduci, OF
- Tony Thomas, UTL INF
- Casey Coleman, RHP
- Jay Jackson, RHP
- Brian Schlitter, RHP
- Darwin Barney, SS, cannot play due to be promoted to AAA
Blake Lalli is the only Cubs farmhand in the starting lineup, batting 7th and playing 1B. The HR Derby will be on Sunday for the Southern League, the game on Monday night.
AAA All Star Game
The AAA All Star Game will be held next Wednesday, July 15, in Portland. It starts at 9 PM CT and will be televised on ESPN2. Former Cubs Matt Murton and Eric Patterson are both a part of the team. Murton will start in the outfield for the PCL. Chris Robinson, catcher, is the only I-Cub on the club.
