Lilly to DL, Bradley to stay a Cub, and more

Lilly to the DL
The Cubs placed Ted Lilly on the 15-day DL with a shoulder injury. Reports are that the lefty could miss about 3 weeks, and will return sometime in mid-August. As soon as the team starts to get healthy, another injury. During the time on the DL, Ted will also have left knee surgery on the knee that has been bothering him all season. To take his spot on the roster the Cubs called up Justin Berg from AAA.

Dempster to return Tuesday
With the injury to Lilly, Ryan Dempster will return to the Cubs rotation a day earlier, making a start against the Reds on Tuesday. Kevin Hart, who pitched well today, will stay in the rotation in Lilly's place for the time being.

Cubs looking for pitching
According to Bruce Levine, the Cubs could look to add a starting pitcher before the deadline with the injury to Lilly. The team could decide to move Sean Marshall into the rotation, but in order to do that they'd need to add a left handed reliever, which they've been looking for.

Bradley Staying
There were reports earlier today that Cubs and Tigers were have talks about Milton Bradley. According to Paul Sullivan, the Cubs have NOT had conversations with any teams about Milton.

Lou comfortable with Bench
Cubs manager Lou Piniella has said that he's comfortable with the bench that he has, especially with the play of Jake Fox.

Soto Update
Geo's target is still to return the first week of August, and Fox will remain the Cubs backup catcher until then.

That's it for now, I'll keep you posted on Everything Cubs!
