Rebabs, Roster, Lineup, and More

Happy 4th of July Cubs Fans! Today at 11am CT, I will be watching the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, followed by the Cubs game at noon. For some reason, I enjoy watching this contest every year on the 4th. You should check it out if you have not before!

Well, let's check in with the rehabs of our Cubbies:
  • Angel Guzman pitched 1.1 innings for the AAA Iowa Cubs, he gave up 0 runs on no hits and walked 1.
  • The Peoria Chiefs won 7-1 last night. Aramis Ramirez was at the hot corner hitting 3rd. He went 1-2, BB, 2B, Run
  • Reed Johnson played CF and hit lead off for Peoria. He went 1-2 before getting pinch hit for in his 3rd AB.
  • Johnson and Ramirez will be back in the Chiefs tonight for their game today at 5:00 CT.

Other Cubs Notes:

  • With these 3 coming up the DL on Monday and Tuesday, the Cubs will have to make some difficult roster moves.
  • Since they will probably keep Jeff Baker, then the assumption would be that Andres Blanco is the odd man out on the infield. However, Carrie Muskat has mentioned that Fontenot has options left and could be sent to AAA, with Blanco becoming the everyday second baseman.
  • Bruce Miles is also reporting that Blanco is going to stay with the big league team.
  • The Cubs have been impressed with Blanco, Fox, and Fuld. However, with Johnson coming off the DL, most likely Fuld will be sent down. It is possible for Hoffpauir to be sent to AAA as well.
  • Kevin Hart or Jeff Samardzija will most likely be sent to AAA to make room for Guzman in the bullpen.
  • Lou said after yesterday's game that, "We'll probably make a few adjustments to our lineup tomorrow." Will he finally move Soriano down in the order? We'll see!
  • According to David Kaplan the Cubs sale is near complete. Could the Cubs make some noise before the trade deadline if the deal is done?

I'll keep you posted!
