Cubs Fall in 10

Great game last night, unfortunately the Cubbies didn't come out on top.

The Cubs got on the board in the 3rd on a double by Theriot and a RBI single by Lee. Dempster cruised through the first 4 innings, but then Hunter Pence hit a solo homer in the 5th to tie the game at 1. In the 6th inning, Dempster got the first 2 men and then allowed 3 straight two out singles and Houston took the lead.

In that bottom of the 6th, Geovany Soto left the game. We later learned that he was experiencing shoulder soreness. According to a report from Cubs.com, Soto will likely miss tonight's game.

Getting back to the game, the Cubs now trailed 2-1. It stayed the way until the 8th inning, when Alfonso Soriano unloaded his second solo homer on the young season to tie the game! Pat Hughes said, "Get out the tape measure, LONG GONE!"

Dempster was removed in the 7th, and the Cub relief core did a decent job. Guzman pitched a scoreless frame. In the bottom of the 9th, Heilman left with 2 on and nobody out. Neal Cotts came in and did his job, and took the game to extra innings.

The Cubs were quiet in the top of the 10th. With the bases loaded at 1 out in the top of the 10th, pitch hitter Jeff Keppinger hit a game winning single, and the Cubs were handed their first lost of the year.

My Player of the Game: Alfonso Soriano for his second homer in as many games. He is the 8th player in Cub history to go deep in each of the first two games of the regular season. He will look to become the second Cub to ever hit one in each of the first 3 games tonight, so watch out!

Game Highlight: Obviously the game winning hit.

Up next: Cubs VS Astros 7:05 PM CT tonight. The final game of the 3 game set, Ted Lilly on the hill for the Cubs.

We'll try again tonight!
