- The Cubs have not made any roster moves yet today, but they are expected to DFA Vizcaino and call up Samardzija by game time.
- Jon Lieber, former Cub, has retired.
- Jim Edmonds hopes to be signed by May.
- Mark Grudzielanek and Jacque Jones, both former Cubs, still want to play in the big leagues this season.
By the way- I'm confused as to why Luis Vizcaino is being DFA or traded already. The guy hasn't even given up an earned run! I didn't like getting him in the Marquis trade, but why even keep him out of Spring Training if he wasn't going to be given a chance! Neal Cotts is the one who needs to go if anyone. However, I'm very happy to see Samardzija back with the big league team. Hopefully with Samardzija, Gregg, Marmol, and Heilman the 7th, 8th, and 9th will be set on most days!
