Cubs Lose 2 of 3

Not a good game at all today from a Cubs perspective. The Cubs lost by a score of 7-1. When you don't play good defense, your bullpen does not do well, and you don't hit at all, you rarely win. Here are the keys to the game:

  • Zambrano made an error that led to a run early for the Reds.
  • Hoffpauir let a ball get past him in right that cost the Cubs 2 runs in the 7th inning.
  • Carlos pitched a OK game, but the gloves were not there behind him.
  • With the Cubs trailing 4-1, Neal Cotts came in and gave up a long ball the extended the Reds lead in the 8th.
  • Jeff Samardzija, who was called up before today's game, came in and allowed 2 insurance runs in the top of the 9th on 4 hits.
  • Ryan Theriot had the only Cubs RBI.

Game Highlight: The error by Hoffpauir that turned a 2-1 game in to a 4-1 game.

My Player of the Game: I'm actually going to name Ron Santo the player of the game, for a great job singing the 7th inning stretch. None of the Cubs players did anything good at all today, so I'll name Ron the player of the game.

Up Next: Cubs VS Cardinals in St. Louis tomorrow night at 7:15 CT. Ryan Dempster will take the hill against Adam Wainwright.

The Cubs have played very poorly the last 2 game, but....

it's only 2 game everyone!
